Should I automatically reduce equity when I turn 70, 80 or 85?

Your opinion Ravi?
Ravi’s view is that age itself should not automatically determine whether you move from equity to debt.
If your asset allocation and bucketing strategy are working and your own requirements are adequately taken care of, simply becoming 70, 80 or 85 does not by itself require a change.
What can require a change is a new requirement.
For example, at 70 you may decide that you want to fund your grandchild’s education or pass on a larger corpus to your grandchild.
In that case, the strategy changes because your requirement has changed, not simply because your age has changed.
“Whether you are 70, whether you are 80, 85 actually should not come into play in terms of taking that particular decision.”
“The strategy is changing more because the requirement is changing, not because you’ve turned 70.”
