Moving everything to FDs may give you peace of mind and confidence, but the question is whether that approach can sustain your lifestyle over the next 20–30 years.

Your cost of living can keep increasing because of inflation, while interest rates may come down over time.

If your expenses eventually become higher than the interest income, you will have to start withdrawing from the principal. Once the principal comes down, the interest generated from it also comes down.

So the risk is that an approach which feels very safe today may cause you to run out of money sooner than expected.

“While the FD gives you a lot of peace of mind and confidence, you have to also be aware that it can cause you to run out of money sooner than later.”
