Is a ₹50 lakh corpus enough if my retirement expenses are ₹5 lakh a year?

Your opinion Ravi?
A ₹50 lakh corpus with ₹5 lakh of expenses in the first year means you are starting with roughly a 10% withdrawal requirement.
As Ravi explains in the podcast, the plain maths says that this is unlikely to last.
The first thing to examine is whether expenses can be reduced. You may have been able to maintain a certain lifestyle while you had a constant income, but once you have only a limited corpus available, some expenses may need to be pruned.
If reducing expenses is not possible, you may have to look at whether children or other family members can support part of the expenses.
Simply moving the entire ₹50 lakh into very conservative investments does not solve the underlying problem either.
“If you give me an example of ₹50 lakh of corpus and a ₹5 lakh requirement, obviously it’s plain maths which says it’s not going to last you.”
“Honestly, ₹50 lakh versus ₹5 lakh as a number will not work out.”
