The role of an adviser is similar to the role of a gym instructor.

You can ask ChatGPT for a six-month exercise programme and probably get a very good programme. But a gym instructor keeps you regular, motivates you and changes the plan when something goes wrong.

A financial adviser can do the same.

Your salary increases but your SIP stays unchanged for three months — the adviser asks what happened.

Your bonus doesn’t come and the international vacation was dependent on that bonus — the adviser helps decide whether to cancel it, reduce the budget or compensate next year.

Your child was expected to study in India but suddenly gets into an expensive overseas university — the plan has to change.

The role of the adviser is not just selecting products. It is helping you stay on track and adjust when life changes.

“The role of the adviser is to keep you on track, keep you motivated, give you clarity when things go wrong.”
