Should I stop my SIP when the market is falling and restart once things look better?

During a correction, it feels safer to pause my SIP and restart once markets stabilise. Is that a sensible way to protect my portfolio?
The problem is that by the time the market feels comfortable again, it may already have recovered significantly.

Another investor may pause the SIP, wait for clarity, and return only after markets have already recovered.
