I have ₹50 lakh. Does that mean I should invest in a PMS?

₹50 lakh is the minimum investment required for PMS in India. If I have that amount available, does that automatically make PMS suitable for me?
No. ₹50 lakh is an eligibility threshold, not a suitability threshold.
The video gives the example of an investor with a ₹75 lakh investable corpus who puts ₹50 lakh into one PMS.
That means almost two-thirds of the portfolio is concentrated in one strategy.
Another investor may have a ₹5 crore portfolio and put the same ₹50 lakh into a PMS. In that case, it is only about 10% of the overall portfolio and behaves much more like a satellite allocation.
The important question is not whether you can invest ₹50 lakh. It is how large that PMS allocation becomes relative to your total portfolio.
“₹50 lakh is the eligibility and not the suitability.”
“The PMS should add to your portfolio and not dominate your portfolio.”
This is not personalized investment advice. Your portfolio size, goals, liabilities and risk tolerance may be different, so assess your own situation and discuss it with your financial advisor.
