Should I invest Rs 5L lump sum in gold right now after the recent 10% correction?
Published 3 October 2026
I noticed gold prices dropped by around 10-15% recently.
I want to add it to my portfolio for stability.
Is this the right time to buy in bulk or should I wait for a bigger crash?
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) also recently crossed the 70 mark, which puts gold in overbought territory driven heavily by speculation. Instead of deploying your entire Rs 5L at once, a phased accumulation strategy works much better here. If you have 100 units of capital meant for gold, deploying just 10 to 20 units after this 10% dip is a reasonable move.
You should hold the rest of your cash and wait for a deeper correction before making any bulk purchases. Silver is showing a very similar chart pattern right now, where a further 15% to 20% dip would present a much better buying opportunity. As a general rule for portfolio construction, keeping your maximum allocation to gold at around 10-15% is usually sufficient for a hedge without dragging down overall growth.
