My wife only wants FDs and I want 100% equity. How do we manage our investments without fighting?
Published 2 October 2026
My wife is very conservative and prefers the safety of bank accounts and FDs.
We end up arguing because my portfolio looks too risky and hers looks like it is losing to inflation.
How should we balance this out?
However by viewing your combined assets you actually achieve a beautifully balanced family-level asset allocation. Let her keep her money in FDs for stability and peace of mind. You can direct your investments into equities for growth.
Together you might naturally hit a 60:40 or 50:50 equity to debt ratio without forcing either person out of their comfort zone. Financial transparency within the family is non-negotiable here.
From insurance policies to investments and wills all relevant stakeholders must be aware of the financial roadmap. If you accumulate wealth but are no longer around that money must seamlessly serve its purpose for your surviving family members.
