Grinding 70 hours a week to hit a Rs 2Cr FIRE target by age 40. Am I making a mistake?

I am 32 and completely obsessed with reaching a Rs 2Cr portfolio to achieve early retirement.

I work extremely long hours, skip vacations, and barely see my friends or family.

I feel like this sacrifice is necessary to win the wealth game.

Is this level of extreme optimization worth it in the end?

True wealth is not just hitting a specific portfolio number, it is keeping all the important areas of your life functioning along the way. Think of your life as a stove with four burners: Money, Mental Health, Physical Health, and Relationships.

The harsh reality of extreme financial success is that to keep the money burner blazing, people often turn off two or even three of the other burners. This leads directly to the arrival fallacy.

You might finally arrive at your big Rs 2Cr target, but your cholesterol is sky-high, you have no energy, and your relationships are completely strained. You will look at those extinguished burners and wonder if the sacrifice was even worth it.

We are all playing a complex game where we cannot control our starting position on the board, but we can control how we interpret the journey. Do not treat your life like a rigged game of Monopoly where you just aggressively hoard resources at the expense of everything else. Appreciate the blessings of life itself and ensure you are not destroying your health and family just to hit a monetary milestone.
